Authority flags are displayed as characters to the left of the tag number for authorisable fields. The possible flags are:
F - 'Full' Establishment Level.
P - 'Preliminary' Establishment Level.
N - Non-Preferred Heading ('See' Reference).
U - Authorisable but Unauthorised.
When the record is first opened a question mark may be displayed in place of the flags. This will update to the relevant flag within a few seconds.
If you are not enabled for interactive authorisation the flags will be displayed, but the Check Authority button will be disabled.
Edit the MARC fields as required.
Highlight
the field and click the Check Authority
button.
The Check Authority search form is displayed, showing authority records
that match the data in the field.
From here you can:
Highlight the required authority heading and click Use Heading. The selected heading is added to the work MARC list.
Highlight an authority heading and click Get ref count to obtain the accurate count of how many times the heading appears in bibliographic records. The font of the row will change to bold when the accurate count has been obtained.
Select an authority record and click Display Authority to view its details.
Click the Authority Search button to search for the required authority heading.
If you can't find the required heading, click the Add New button to create a new authority record.
