You can export the contents of any Talis Alto grid (for example, borrower or item lists, search results, etc.) as a .CSV file. This file can be imported into a table-oriented application such as Microsoft Excel. If using Microsoft Excel, you should import your saved data (see below) rather than open it directly.
Right-click anywhere within the grid.
Talis Alto displays a pop-up menu.
Select the Export
to CSV File option.
The Windows Save As form is
displayed.
Specify the required directory and filename and
click OK.
Talis Alto confirms that the file has been saved.
Open a new file in Microsoft Excel.
From the Data
menu choose Get External Data and
then Import Text File.
The Import Text File form is displayed.
Locate the .CSV file and click Import.
The Text Import Wizard starts.
In step 1, ensure the default Delimited option is set and click Next.
In step 2, clear all the Delimiters options except for Comma.
In step 3:
Highlight any column that contains control numbers or barcodes.
Set the Column data format to Text.
Repeat for each column.
Click Finish.
The Import Data form is displayed.
Specify whether you want to import the data into the existing worksheet or a new one.
Click OK.
The data is imported.
