Talis Base 2 record type codes

Talis Base 2 Record types are used in conjunction with the search type Record type for any Talis Base 2 database.

Language material – includes printed, microform and electronic language material.

Notated music – includes printed, microform and electronic notated music.

Manuscript notated music – includes microform manuscript music.

Cartographic material – includes maps, atlases, globes, digital maps and other cartographic items.

Manuscript cartographic material – includes microform manuscript maps.

Projected medium – includes motion pictures, videorecordings, filmstrips, slides, transparencies and other material designed for projection.

Non-musical sound recording – includes speech.

j

Musical sound recording – includes records, compact discs and cassette tapes.

Two-dimensional non projectable graphic – includes activity cards, charts, collages, computer graphics, drawings, duplication masters, flash cards, paintings, photonegatives, photoprints, pictures, photo CDs, postcards, posters, prints, spirit masters, study prints, technical drawings, photomechanical reproductions, and reproductions of any of these.

Computer file – includes computer software, numeric data, computer-oriented multimedia, online systems or services.  It does not include such things as e-books or digital recordings.  These are coded for their most significant aspect (e.g. as language material, sound recordings etc.).

Kit – contains a mixture of components from two or more types of items.

Mixed material – materials in two or more forms that have been accumulated by or about a person or body.  Includes archival fonds and manuscript collections.

Three-dimensional artifact or naturally occurring object – includes man-made objects such as models, games, sculptures, clothing and toys, and naturally-occurring objects such as microscope specimens.
