To search for specific words or phrases

You can search for words or phrases and use wildcard expressions. Wildcard expressions allow you to search for one or more characters using a question mark or asterisk. The table below describes the results of these different kinds of searches.

Search for

Example search term

Result

A single word

fund

Displays topics that contain the word "fund." (You will also find its grammatical variations, such as "funds", "funding" and "fund_user")

A phrase

"order date"

With the quotation marks included, displays topics that contain the literal phrase "order date".

order date

Without the quotation marks, the query is equivalent to specifying "order AND date", which will find topics containing both of the individual words, instead of the phrase.

Wildcard expressions

fun*

Displays the topics that start with "fun" (i.e. "fun_ill_list", "fun_user_links, fun_ill_list" etc).

80?86

Displays topics that contain the sting 80_86 with any single wildcard character in its place (i.e. 80186, 80286, 80386).
