Lyra Programme

The Lyra Programme enables your library to implement an economical transition to the new MARC 21 and ISBN-13 global standards with minimal interruption. To achieve this, the Lyra Programme has introduced product developments in phases to ensure a non-disruptive catalogue conversion. Once MARC 21 cataloguing and ISBN-13 compliance have been established and the catalogue has been converted, the Lyra Programme delivers improved access to your data through new indexes and search facilities geared to the MARC 21 format.

To enable your library to achieve a cost-effective, low impact transition to the MARC 21 and ISBN-13 standards, the Lyra Programme adopts a phased approach designed to ensure:

  • A gradual and de-coupled conversion that will minimise downtime and interruption to work routines, whilst allowing time for checking and re-running
  • Product upgrade independence, to minimise the need for simultaneous upgrades to different products
  • Gradual adoption of MARC 21 to ensure staff can adapt to new cataloguing practices

This phased approach minimises the impact on both your normal operations and services to users, and also increases the options for scheduling activities (such as deploying software releases, converting and checking data, and training staff with new software and functionality).

What's new

We’ve released a new package of education material covering MARC 21 Catalogue Conversion and the new Lyra Completion software, available here.
