Talis Education

Talis provides a comprehensive training package for new customers. For each new Talis installation, our skilled Training Consultants will evaluate your training requirements, advice on methods and time scales, and deliver initial sessions. For existing customers needing to re-engineer processes (or simply train new staff), we offer specialised training and bespoke consultancy.

Our 'cascade' approach identifies key trainers within your library and staff are given in-depth training. These key staff, who are usually representatives from each service section (i.e. cataloguing, circulation, etc.), go on to train and coach their own staff as required.

Talis also deliver on-going training courses and workshops, run by professional librarians and technical consultants. These courses provide a deeper understanding of the system and its functionality, and can be combined with bespoke training to help you get the most from your investment.

Talis Alto incorporates a "Tutor System" to allow staff to gain operational experience with a trial database without fear of damaging vital book or borrower data. The facility can also be used for ongoing training purposes and for loading test versions of new software revisions.

Talis provides a consultancy service to deal with special one off requirements. This can range from an audit of hardware capability to special projects that require bespoke work. We have qualified technical staff and vast experience in making library systems meet specific library needs.

Any requests for training in Talis Text will be reviewed on an individual basis and will be charged as bespoke.
