Platform Licensing
This document provides some additional background on the licensing and commercial aspects of the Talis Platform business model. A number of Platform services are freely available for all, with additional services being charged for on a utility based model.
Basic Account Services
In order to drive the spread of open data, and usage of the linked data web, a number of the Platform services are made available free of charge. Unless the data owner has altered the access control policy, all of the following services may be used anonymously and without charge:
- Basic Search Service, including search and facet
- Augmentation
- Describe service
In some cases data owners require users to authenticate using a Platform Account (i.e. a registered username/password) to use these services, e.g. for purposes of reporting on levels of access. Similarly in order to publish data a Platform Account is required.
Accounts are free, but are currently only provided on request.
Commercial Usage
As a SaaS based solution, use of the Platform is charged under a simple utility model that includes:
- A fee for data hosting based on a fixed price per Million triples hosted
- A fixed fee and ongoing per-request usage fees for additional value-added services such as access control (for private data) and SPARQL endpoints.
A range of commercial licensing options are available. Please contact us to discuss options and pricing.
