WorldCat goes 'Library 2.0' ?

An announcement from OCLC highlights that users of their subscription WorldCat database are now able to "add reviews, notes and tables of contents to WorldCat records through a new option that facilitates sharing among [subscribing] library users worldwide", and this is being commented upon by some as an embracing of Library 2.0. Read some of the comments, and share your own thoughts.

OCLC's announcement was sent out to a number of their mailing lists today, and has been picked up by several bloggers, including Anna on LISNews.org and Helene on Library TechBytes.

Inviting participation, as OCLC are doing, is an important step. But with a business model dependent upon securing subscription revenue from participating libraries before they can get involved at even the most basic level, is this sustainable as we move forward?
