Talis Source

Talis Source is the newly transitioned UnityWeb service. Under its new name comes a brand new proposition. Contribute your holdings data for free to the Talis Platform and get free resource discovery to the biggest union catalogue of UK libraries in Talis Source.

The contribution of holdings data to the Talis Platform therefore has real significance. Details of the data contribution guidelines and a set of FAQ's can be seen on the Talis Source web site.

There are a number of ways of submitting holdings data from Talis library systems and these are detailed below.

Submitting Holdings from Talis Library Systems

To simplify the process of contributing holdings a new script called contribute_holding.sh has been created. The details on installing and running the script can be seen in the contribute holdings.sh release notice. This new script will automatically refresh all your current holdings by running a full extract in MARC format and then send the holdings to Talis. The script will then automatically run monthly updates of addition and deletions and send them to Talis.

The existing script, rlb_non_isbn.pl, used for generating a holdings file can still be used. Further details can be seen in the release notice and in the Talis Online Scripts Help
