use of whisper by end users?

Whisper
Have a version available for library customers to use so that in
locate - have a choice to have either public or academic libraries displayed. Make it possible so that the academic site can show whether it is part of the UK Universities plus scheme
The reasoning behind this request is that we can help our distant off campus students and also our students who are on placements and for when they are home on holiday. If they need an item they can look to see if it is available locally and then go and use the item in that local library if it is available. If it is identified that it is part of the UK University plus scheme then this will also help them.
This could possible be ab extension of the post code idea already discussed(?)
An API way forward
As you know Whisper is a research prototype demonstrator and not a supported product. That's not to say that it isn't already useful as it is.
What it does demonstrate however, as you have identified, is that by using holdings data that has been contributed to the Talis Platform (via Talis Source), nationally based search results can be filtered to provide the view of those results that suits an individual's requirements.
The ability to that will be enabled by using the Web Service APIs provided by the Platform. Documentation for these will very soon published in TDN - watch this space.
