Script for bulk updates on unique barcodes

Hi,
I wondered whether anyone knows of a quicker way of withdrawing stock when we already have a list of barcodes(in Excel)instead of using the bulk option in Alto. We can't run the usual SQL update script because the condition is defined by each item barcode and these aren't in a range as they are randomly selected.

There is a script on the TDN for adding messages to borrowers where borrowers are identified from a file with a list of barcodes.
This could be a starting point and with modification be used for an item based script.
